Many photographers, books, guides and tutorials will tell you the golden or blue hours produces the best photos. This can be true for certain styles of photography. This doesn't mean you shouldn't go out at other times.
Photography is just as much about catching the environment as it is. Not as you think it should look. This concept ties in with the idea that a photo should tell a story. Anyone can take a snap shot and a decent one with today's phones. You need to stand out.
The three examples here are from a foggy night. I looked out the window and could just about see to the end of the road. These are not standout award winning photos, but it was a great opportunity to push the camera ready for the moments I need to take those pro images.
